Weekend
in Kuala Lumpur! Part 1
We took a quick trip over to Kuala Lumpur (simply referred
to as 'KL' here in Malaysia). It was the perfect opportunity for a new
adventure with Rain and Lindsey so away we went. We started with an early
morning train ride (4 hours) from Butterworth Station located on the mainland
side of Penang. We had Business Class seats which are like first class on
airplanes ($35ish each way). We could
have flown, but we wanted to see the country from ground level, not 30k feet
high. And it was only made better when we figured out how to swing out seats
around to face each other. Me? I had the single seat. I just enjoyed the
passing scenery. We did enjoy a couple included meals with our seats as well.
We visited the famous Batu Caves early to beat the crowds and heat. It also replaced our gym workouts since you climb hundreds and hundreds of colorful stairs to the top! All that way up just to find out there are more stairs inside (one leggers kryptonite). The inside of the cave is massive, with more temples and levels inside. It's impressive the amount of work this must have taken to build. Now it's back down all the stairs, while dodging the hoards coming up, as well as the monkeys running around. I'm so done with stairs...
After refreshing ourselves with our car’s A/C, we had a
quick stop at the Royal Palace gates (Yup, they have a King here!), followed by
a walk around a little of the city before zipping up the KL Tower for a late
lunch. We got to try new foods at the buffet while it revolved, giving us a new
incredible vistas of the cityscape every passing minute.
Our day was filled with new experiences and lifelong
memories, and still more adventures coming up...
