Have I mentioned we live at a mall? π
Like for real, our condo is connected to an amazing mall! (Gurney Paragon on Gurney Drive)
We're settling into new routines, with new things to explore and new people to meet every day. Yesterday we visited "Penang Straits & Oriental Museum", located in "our" mall. We learned a lot about the history of porcelain, Chinese exports, trade routes, and shipwrecks. It was really quite interesting! Then we were given a tour of Cantonese Chinese Opera artifacts as part of a special exhibit from the collection of a revered Opera figure, Mr. Leong Ah Soo. It wasn't until the tour was nearly over that we learned our tour guide was the eldest daughter of Mr. Leong, and these were the artifacts she inherited from her father. It added special meaning to the experience.
Plus, the
food! Thought I'd share my most recent meals with y'all. Thai food from the 5th
level food court, an Italian place on the 2nd level, just below our home (we're
on the 6th). Friday night we walked down the street for char koay teow and
dumplings at an open air food court, and Saturday was Chinese food at a
neighboring mall, followed by mango snow at our favorite "Snowflake"
hawker stand. These dining efforts fully support my goal of "not
cooking" for the next two years. Exceptions are being made for reheating
leftovers, frying eggs, and cutting up fresh fruits, haha!
